Christmas is the most exciting time of the year and the busiest! With deadlines over and done with you can be free to celebrate the season and get into the Christmas spirit. If you do find yourself with a spare moment in between preparing for the festivities, there’s more than enough going on in Reading to guarantee you make the most of this time of year! I’ve chosen a handful of events that I think are definitely worth going to:
Reading’s Living Advent Calendar
There are numerous events taking place over the whole month of December with something to do every day! And the best part if that they’re all free – so there’s no excuses for missing out:
20th/ 21stDecember 4-7pm: A Magical Reading Christmas – Images, Reflections and Projections, St Laurence Church, Friar Street
This is an incredibly unique opportunity to see local artist’s creations depicting what Christmas means to the people of Reading.
22ndDecember 12-1pm: My Shadow and Me, Pentahotel, Broad Street
This engaging show uses shadows and lights to tell the journey of one man and his shadow – this is guaranteed to be a sell out so booking in advance is essential!
22ndDecember 2-3pm: Cinema in Silhouette, Pentahotel, Broad Street
This is an 18 and over event due to the adult content involved. However, this tribute to 20thCentury filmmaking will entertain endlessly, combining shadow puppetry with stand-up comedy. This is once again a popular event and so although it is free booking is essential!
Hopefully, this short list of events has inspired you to go out and make the most of what Reading has to offer this Christmas season!
